This is the press release we are putting out to tell everyone about the new, improved Mustapha's Place.
11th February 2009
Mustapha’s Place, a hotel, bar and restaurant on the east coast of Zanzibar, has relaunched under new management, and is also launching a new website to showcase the hotel at
www.mustaphasplace.com
New manager Culture Hamada has been involved with the hotel for years – helping founder Mustapha to design and build the unique coral stone bungalows over ten years ago, at the dawn of Zanzibar’s tourism industry. After several years in the UK, Mr Hamada has agreed to come back and manage Mustapha’s Place, and to take it to the next level.
Mr Hamada says: “This relaunch is exciting for Mustapha’s Place, and we have many plans for the near future, including a new restaurant, Jasmine’s; a new bar, Mustapha’s; and spa treatments. However, we aim to stay affordable and true to our backpacker roots.
“We are also going to offer guests a greater range of activities than ever, including kitesurfing and Swahili cookery lessons. Other options being considered for Mustapha’s are yoga retreats and an artist-in-residence programme.
“But the hotel’s unique selling point, other than its beautiful gardens and location near one of the most beautiful beaches in the world, remains that it is a great meeting place for travellers and locals.”
To celebrate the relaunch, Mustapha’s Place is offering four nights’ accommodation for the price of three throughout March and April.
Mustapha’s Place is also going to be looking at ways of ensuring the hotel benefits the local community as much as possible. As well as the hotel being locally owned, all staff are from Zanzibar itself, with the majority from the neighbouring villages of Bwejuu and Paje.
The hotel is also looking at how to manage the waste it creates, with recycling of plastic bottles and a scheme to ensure batteries are disposed of responsibly in place already.
